The Turriff Bowling Club was formed in 1878 - a disused sand quarry was levelled and a bowling green was formed. This is still our present day green.
1951 saw the club buy an old wooden tearoom which would be erected to the front of the green, three
(52ftx9ft) carpets were bought and laid in the new clubhouse where indoor bowls could now be played.
The club applied and were granted a bar licence in 1961.
In 1976 it became apparent that the old building was done and members began exploring the idea of building a much larger bowling stadium. Two years later, after a considerable amount of fundraising, dedication and hard work from members, the new 4 rink stadium was complete. At present we still play under the same structure that was built in 1978. A small extension has been built since with changing rooms and board room being added.
Our club over the years has been very successful on the local and international scene with many international players having came through the ranks.
New members are always very welcome to the club both indoor and out, and coaching sessions for beginners can be easily set up. If you would like to join or simply become a social member pop in and pick up membership form from our bar.
